June 2025 Newsletter Special Edition, Call to Action

Be heard We all recognize the first image, we know how many wonderful trails exist in the Cleveland National Forest.  The second image shows all of that land that could be sold based on the massive spending bill that was introduced into the Senate last week.

Blackstar, Maple Springs, San Juan.....do these names ring a bell?  We've fought together for re-openings like Holy Jim and Santiago Truck Trail and for reconstructions like West Horsethief, and our community members like the Warriors Society have lovingly cared for these trails for years - are we prepared to give it all up?  We met earlier this week with Congresswoman Kim's office.  We expressed our concern regarding this facet of the proposal and asked for her support to deny its approval.  Our mission is to protect and expand trail access, you can help by letting them hear our individual voices too.  Use the Outdoor Alliance easy-action form below, and here's an example message:

I am an avid mountain biker in Orange County.  As such, I am concerned about a component of the proposed Senate spending package that includes more than 3 million acres of public land sell offs directly impacting the places that I ride.  I understand that this spending package would come back to the House for a vote..

I am fundamentally opposed to selling off public lands.  Here in Orange County we have limited open space to conserve our natural environment while providing venues for respectful outdoor enthusiasts.  The proposal would take away a majority of that remaining acreage.

Public lands are a part of our national heritage and vital to our health, environment, and economy. They provide clean air and water, habitat, climate protections, and support a $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy that sustains nearly 5 million American jobs.

As your constituent, I request your vocal opposition to public land sell offs and the spending package’s approach that undermines our public lands and waters - the actions that would take most of the Cleveland National Forest from us and our future generations..

Thank you for your consideration.
