What We've Been Doing

1st Annual Trail Festival Recap

Last weekend we hosted the Inaugural OC Trail Festival in O'Neill Regional Park.  This one is all about bringing the community together to camp, ride, enjoy great eats and hear how they we can all be part of the movement to protect our trails.  We were honored with a keynote address from Congresswoman Young Kim and greatly appreciated the suppport of sponsors like Delium Tire, Formula100, The Path, Fix MFG, Fox MTB and SDG Components.

Recent Events

May 29 - Irvine Ranch Conservacy Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, recognizing the ever growing MTB Trail Guide group

May 30 - OC MTB x OCMTBA Trail Run and Ride at Fremont Canyon, exploring & sharing the trails 

June 6 - National Trail Day, huge trail work group in Aliso Woods Canyon/equally big ride group in Laguna Coast

June 13 - CycleFest at Sports Basement, gathering for a ride together followed by Expo and fun raffle

June 13 - Laguna Canyon Foundation Ales & Trails, annual fundraiser for our favorite conservation partners

July 17 - Laguna Beach modular pump track party, mid term celebration of the highly acknowledged proof of concept 

July 25 - Xmas in July, Fully loop ride, expo, and most importantly fund raising for those in need

Orange County Mountain Bike Association  We are your sanctioned representation for our beloved sport in this most awesome place we call home.  That means, first and foremost we advocate to protect and expand your trail access.  We also organize, support and provide tools and trail work that "gives back" to our outdoor spaces.  And we host community events to unite our MTB family because that is our strength, Together we Ride!  To learn more read on.  The Trails-Advocacy, The Dirt-Trail Work, and Upcoming Events..well you get it!

The Trails

• The asphalt pump track in Buena Park is contracted for construction in September & the third and largest has a goal to be contraced in 2026 as well

• The San Clemente Pump Track just had Vorld added and with the help of Shimano and the City of San Clemente it will receive a full refresh later this summer 

• Association members So Cal Trail Alliance, Warriors of Santa Anaand our FSS Corona MTB are presenting eight Cleveland trail authorizations to the USFS - this will complement the BOLTsubmission that just finished comment period

• The Gateway Preserve in Irvine continues to progress with discussions occuring between OCMTBA Trail Director and IRC around the trail build outs.

• OC Parks says the Craig Park Bike Facility will be in construction phase August of 2027, they are currently in design phase.

• We are supporting the presentation of an alternative, exciting and more efficient solution for the C1PA authorizations work item at OCParks

• Association member SoCalBMXhas negotiated a lease for BMX at Irvine Lake.  Check out the Press Release.

The Dirt

• We participated in the most recent OC Parks Trails Subcommittee where discussions included signage and training, following on the prior meetings on unauthorized trails

• We participated in the most recent Laguna Canyon Foundation Trails Committee where topics included NCC Study, trail closures and the last two years of trail accomplishment

• We continue to support our friends a LCF, most recently promoting the next phase of major repair on Old Emerald in Laguna Coast Wilderness 

• We hope you'll join Associationpartner the Warriors this weekend for another Trail cleanup at Four Corners

• STAY TUNED for fall trail work events, we anticipate a wet winter and as soon as the dirt is ready we'll be rallying your participation!

September 26 - Pre-game at TLD Laguna, UCI World Cup viewing party and athlete/influencer panel at Rivian's South Coast Theater 

October 3 - Join us and Ride RX to honor IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Bike Riding at O'Neill Park, be a part of sharing the passion with the next generation

October 10 - UCI Anti-Cancer challenge MTB ride led by Good Dirt Kurt and docented by OCMTBA 

October 24- sign up for the biggest MTB party of the year, the Good Dirt Ride 2026!  Proceeds will benefing Africa cycling and your own local trails!

The Partners

SoCal BMX is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that leads the development and operation of new BMX race facilities in OC.  SoCal BMX is guided by a notable advisory panel and led by old-school BMX racer turned real estate attorney Sean Kading.  Not only is this important Association member working on the Irvine Lake project, they are also aimed at "bring back BMX to Orange" in the Grijalva Park expansionwhere we hope to add a pump track as well!
