Local Legends

Sometimes you have to stop and reflect on how fortunate we are in Orange County. Only here could you enjoy a beautiful theater like Rivian South Coast, the support of a fine Coast Film Festival and a partnership with Troy Lee Designs for a pre-event happy hour!

This was a special night. Again only in our special place could you have a panel that included Local Legends Hans Rey, Cam Zink and Rainy Wyman . This is over four decades of the best in our game, participating in support of the trail cause. We started off with some fantastic short films from these three as well as a trailer for the upcoming Troy Lee film, "The Last True Orginal". Their content was amazing and we still were also able to enjoy the Ritual later in the evening.

We then launched into an amazing panel. Hans talked about the need to differentiate class 1 pedal assist mountain bikes, and his consistent focus on protecting our trail access, all while continuing his effort to be an ambassador for Laguna Beach as the heart of MTB in OC. And Cam, spoke about how he anchored the San Clemente Pump Track presentation, and how committed he is to the development of more and better bike facilities in our region via his Sensus Rad Trails organization. And Rainy, wow she's going to be the one we all are honored to have met. Her talk about the impact of the Laguna Canyon Riders on her developing career and her respect of how giving back through trail work is all part of what makes the magic. They are truly local legends; moreover they are awesome examples for all of us in advocating for where we ride.

A primary theme to the whole event was our upcoming Good Dirt Ride. This night was the time to reveal the grand prize for our renowned opportunity drawing. Yep, up on stage with the legends was a custom-built Zink Bikes Vacay. This frame is a collaboration with Troy Lee and was supported by greatly appreciated donations: components from Shimano, suspension form SRAM and rubber from Delium. And TLD Designs also donated a Stages Stunt helmet in matching color way. Someone is going to win this bike/helmet combo on October 24, it'll make them the envy of our entire MTB community!

Good Dirt Kurt was there helping people sign up, but fear not - we'll still accept your registration. This ride is a primary fund raiser for OCMTBA, your entry proceeds go to your own trails. By contributing you follow in the lead of our local legends. Be like Hans, Cam and Rainy and make a difference, get signed up soon.
