Together We Ride!

Yesterday was a big one for OCMTBA, the City of San Clemente and the bike community on whole as we cut the ribbon on the first pump track in all of Orange County! This unique public/private/non-profit partnership project has set the bar for the rest of our region to follow with more facilities oriented to serving our two wheeled passion.

Despite the rain, the crowd was huge. Samantha Wylie, Director of Beaches, Parks and Recreation kicked off the opening comments. Councilmember Rick Loeffler spoke on behalf of the City of San Clemente. Dustin Brady, representing the anchor sponsor Shimano spoke about his passion as a lifelong resident to make this dream of John Cuchessi's a reality. Brian De La Puente spoke for the Friends of San Clemente and then your's truly reminded everyone "we did it".

Dustin then took the golden scissors to lead the #trailheroes of this milestone facility in the official ribbon cutting after which, and holding a lot of anxious riders at bay, we welcomed none other than the reining World Champion of Pump Track, Ryan Gilchrist for a ceremonial first ride.

This project would not have happened were it not for a very unique partnership with the City and a very gracious sponsorship from Shimano. On behalf of the bike community we wish to extend more gratitude than any words can express.

Now, two things: 1) you need to get out there and ride it, the American Ramp/Velosolutons tracks were done perfectly and all wheels can enjoy (and in adverse weather too!) and 2) you want to ask your City if they are going to be the next one to do this.

We've got good conversations, temporary track demos and site negotiations happening all around the County - help us to help you be heard so your hometown location can be next!
